How to work with Polcore
Polcore picture frame mouldings can be purchased in individual lengths or in box quantites. Box quantities vary due to the size of each moulding - see individual mouldings for box quantity. All Polcore lengths are 2.9m long.
Polcore can be cut using a mitre guillotine taking more bites through the moulding than with wood. Very sharp blades should be used at all times. We can help you with this with our MORSØ blade sharpening service.
Circular saws can also be used. We recommend that the blades move quickly through the moulding to reduce any heat build up. Your blade supplier can provide specialist blades for cutting Polcore picture frame mouldings.
Sample pieces of Polcore are available so you may try before making a purchase.
Although many Framers do not glue Polcore we recommend the use of our Polcore glue, a cyanoacrylate adhesive. This will ensure a secure joint.
The only difference between Polcore and wood mouldings is the wedge positions. We recommend placing the wedges closer to the rebate area of the picture frame moulding avoiding the back edge.
